In Kenya, there are approximately 16 million children and young people in education. For many of them owning a Bible is a luxury due to the high levels of poverty that so many families face.
Since 2017 the Bible Society of Kenya has been distributing Bibles and portions of Scripture to children and young people in schools and children’s homes, completely free of charge. Not having access to the Word of God denies these children and young people the opportunity to learn more of God and His immense love for them, in turn bringing peace to their families and communities.
Will you help us share God’s Word with these children and young people today?
The Bible Society of Kenya longs for every child in Kenya to have access to their own copy of God’s wholly transformative Word. This distribution work is not only vital for these children and young people but is transformational for whole communities. In most homes, it is the children attending school that are able to read the Scriptures to the rest of the family.
Your prayerful and financial support today will help to provide Bibles and Scripture portions to marginalised children and young people in Kenya.
In 2024, the Bible Society have distributed 21,783 Bibles, New Testaments and John’s Gospels to marginalised and impoverished children and young people in the western and northern regions of Kenya.
Many of the communities visited by the Bible Society are highly volatile places, with violence often being initiated over cattle rustling (the theft of livestock). The lack of peace in these communities is detrimental to the upbringing and development of the children and young people who witness this violence.
Bishop Kwambai, the head of interfaith in the Elgeyo Marakwet region, said, “The distribution of Bibles is a rope all stakeholders should catch, hold it with value and not lose it in directing the children and young people in schools on matters of peace and love.”
It is the hope of the Bible Society that through the provision of Bibles and Scripture portions, many children and young people will grow up with a different perspective than that of previous generations, bringing the peace and love of God to their families and communities.
In 2025, the Bible Society are planning to distribute 12,000 full Bibles as well as many more New Testaments and Scripture portions to more marginalised children and young people in other regions of Kenya.
Your support today can help to provide these Bibles and Scripture portions for distribution to even more marginalised Kenyan children and young people during 2025.
