Trauma can be brought about by different things…
• the death of a loved one,
• violence from family or friends (reported ‘violence against women’ cases have increased by 500% in the last 18 years),
• destructive typhoons (the Philippines get an average of 26 typhoons/year)
The Philippine Bible Society believes that providing genuine compassion to abused and hurting people is only possible in the spirit of God’s grace and love. They launched the ‘Trauma Healing for Hurting Women’ programme in 2017. The programme aims to train 6,360 facilitators who will lead trauma healing sessions for over 77,000 women by the end of 2019.
Each woman involved will receive a Bible that will be their companion as they go through the healing process. Through this programme more women will find true and lasting comfort and safety, and experience life in all its fullness.
