The Bible Society of Guatemala runs an amazing programme called ‘Free to Live’. Staff and volunteers are working with girls in shelters who have been victims of abuse or human trafficking, using the Word of God to bring healing and comfort.
Everyday 33 people become a victim of human trafficking in Guatemala. It is estimated that 60% of these people are children. This has a devastating effect on the lives of the young women and children.
The “Free to Live” project brings God’s Word to those who have been victims of trafficking. This project helps girls and young women, giving them hope through the message of the Bible. “Free to Live” groups meet once a week, where they study Scripture and participate in Trauma Healing programmes. They are aided in their recovery from the traumatic events that they have experienced and are shown that God loves them and cares for them.
