Over the last four years the Interconfessional Bible Society of Albania has had a successful and growing sports ministry with the youth in their country. Through coaching and sports activities children and young people have been engaging with the Bible and growing socially and spiritually.
The staff at the Bible Society say, “the ‘Friends for Life’ sport centre is a mission and investment project that will offer the opportunity for children coming from families in need, teenagers and youth to benefit from continuous sports training and events, helping them also to encounter the message of the Bible for the first time and to get more engaged with the Scriptures throughout the year.”
The main meeting buildings of the centre are still under construction, but the football pitches have been finished and are already being used by the Bible Society.

The Bible Society of Albania have had a huge uptake from the local people. They have five groups (Under 7s, Under 9s, Under 11s, Under 13s and a women’s team) that are being coached by their professional coaches each week. After each session, a short Bible study is held, and the Gospel is shared. The Bible Society of Albania places a heavy emphasis on building personal relationships with people, and the Friends for Life sports centre is helping them to do this.
They are also collaborating with “Faith and Light”, an initiative to serve young people with disabilities. Once every two weeks a group from Faith and Light will come to the sports fields to play football and spend time with the football coaches and volunteers.
